Geeks on Tour: Comments from Seminar Attendees


We love what we do. We love using computers and showing other people how to use them too. It's important for us to know that we're reaching people, opening their eyes to computer results they didn't think possible and easing the frustration of learning. Nothing is more important to us than hearing comments like these: From an email sent by Roger to his Genealogical group: While doing the Genealogical Seminars at the RV Conventions last year I meet Jim & Chris Guld. They give a number of seminars on various computer related topics at each convention. While you might think they are focused at RV owners, I found their style both entertaining and informative. They offer a number of training CDs but even better they offer a number of different newsletters and blogs on different topics from Photo editing and management using Picassa to "Movie" making such as the short I did on our library construction on YouTube along with other topics. While I consider myself a "Computer Geek" and initially didn't think they could teach me much I have learned that they really do know a lot and feel that no matter what level of computer skills you posses you will probably benefit from viewing their training material. I give them Two Thumbs Up. Roger Marble I've read your blog and received your Picassa tips regularly - finally decided the free information you pass along was so good that I wanted to pay for it. I'm fairly computer savvy, but occasionally run into something that requires quite a bit of research before I understand it. Now, your forums will be my "go-to" source. Really, I feel like I have already gotten my money's worth, before I ever joined! Laurie Brown, Semi-True Tales of our Life on the Road Hands down you have one of the best education sites I have ever found. You have spent so much time with me individually and I can't thank you enough. I don't know how you will keep up with all of these folks though but I hope you never quit! I am telling everyone about you! Tom Thank you for your help. I sure do enjoy being a member of yours. As I have already learned so much about using my Laptop, or a PC, since I am self taught, and barely at that, also. It sure makes learning much easier when you can actually watch someone go through the steps to do things. You don't go too fast and your explanations are perfect. And you have a lovely speaking voice. You have no competition. I HAVE PASSED THE NAME OF YOUR SITE ON TO MY FRIENDS. Still have not fully perused the site. John I got your Picasa3 cdrom in the mail yesterday. The content is great! I also like the simple, straightforward user interface (video choices on the left column). Well worth the price. My parents have been emailing 8 MB .bmp attachments for nearly 10 years. With Picasa and your videos to guide them, my parents will have access to a whole new world in digital pictures. Also, no more 8 MB .bmp attachments will be nice for everybody. You both do a great job of explaining computer-ease. I found your explanations easy to follow and at my level – that sometimes is very hard to do for those who understand and know computers well. It's titled, not so originally, boondockingblogger. Since I boondock and stay a few months in place, I wanted to avoid giving the impression that I'm constantly on the road. Been there, done that. It will be incorporated later as a travelogue. Now, a couple weeks short of 70, and traveling alone, I'm less fond of adventure. Still, family and friends wanted to hear of my past adventures and find out where I'm at, so a blog was ideal. It's a work in progress and I enjoy it immensely. Again, many thanks. We presented our seminars on Internet access, Safe Computing, Picasa, Blogging and Google Earth. You can download the handouts on our Articles page. We also provided computer help at the Wi-Fi hotspot in the Information center. We were sponsored by Beaudry RV.
